Land of wines “Tuscany
Duration of the tour 7 hours.
Description
Departure from Rome at 08.00AM (recommended time) destination Orvieto (Umbria), in symbiosis with the tufa cliff on which it stands, is an outstanding example of integration between nature and man. Majestic is the Duomo. In some cases the evidence of awareness of this relationship between nature and architecture is expressed explicitly, as the inscription affixed to the famous well of St. Patrick which recite “quod Nature munimento inviderat industry adiecit” clear fact, that “What nature denied for the defense – in this case the water- was added by human activity” . Fortunately, today it is not necessary to climb the cliff on a mule, a modern system of “alternative mobility” allows a convenient and attractive access to the city: first, the funicular, which functioned in the nineteenth century with water, completely modernized, and second a lift and escalators that are also the sign of a pedestrian reappropriation of an old city center for citizens and tourists. After the visit of Orvieto, transfer to “Asciano” (Tuscany), where lunch will be the best of local foods and wines.

After lunch, way back to Rome.
